George Gross
My interests lie at the intersection of power system operations and planning and market economics. I have worked on reliability assessment and dynamic simulation aspects of power system planning, on the development of state-of-the-art tools for power system operations and real-time monitoring and control, and on the development of effective decision support tools for these areas. In the power system analysis domain, my work was focused on the development of computationally efficient numerical algorithms for very large-scale power networks. Some of the research topics that I am currently investigating are optimal bidding strategies in competitive electricity markets, ancillary services, available transfer capability, reliability economics and the relationship of reliability to markets, business models for transmission, and the role of the load as a resource. I am also interested in distributed energy resources and, particularly, their integration into the grid. In addition, I have strong interests in the regulatory policy arena and the environmental aspects of electricity.
