Roy Campbell is the Associate Dean of Information Technology, the Sohaib and Sara Abbasi Professor in the Department of Computer Science, Director of the NSA Designated Center for Academic Excellence and Research in Information Assurance, Director of the Air Force funded Assured Cloud Computing Center at the Information Trust Institute, and Principal Investigator of the Illinois Cyber Security Scholars Program funded by NSF to support undergraduate and graduate students seeking cybersecurity careers within the government. He is also an Affiliate Faculty of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and member of both the Coordinated Sciences Laboratory and Information Trust Institute. He received his Honors B.S. degree in Mathematics, with a minor in Physics from the University of Sussex in 1969 and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1972 and 1976, respectively. Current interests include operating and distributed systems, security, digital forensics education and research, assured cloud computing, big data and big data storage, and systems issues for data analytics.
